Grub Worms

|
Grub worms feed on the roots of your grass.
The damage can be fatal to your lawn. Grubs feed on virtually all types
of turf grasses. Normally there are not enough of them present in one
area of the lawn to show noticeable damage, but it only takes 10-15
grubs feeding within a small area to have heavy damage. Grubs are normally deep in the
soil, and come up to feed only during certain times of the year. Insecticides
are included in the residential Dorsey's Landscaping Lawn
Program to control grubs that may come up and begin to cause
damage to your turf. |
|
Armyworms feed on the stems and leaves of turf grasses and they feed
mostly at night. Damage most
commonly occurs on Bermuda or Zoysia lawns during late spring through
late summer. Their damage is best
described as wide spread browning of the turf; almost like the lawn is going
into dormancy in the middle of the summer. Unlike grub damage, damage
caused by armyworms can typically be repaired. If armyworms are present you
can normally find them if you search in the thatch layer right at the soil
level. As with Grub worms, insecticides are included in the residential Dorsey's
Landscaping Lawn Program if your lawn is damaged by Armyworms. |
